This is a fantastic opportunity to join Direct Line Group as a Regional Underwriter within our Property & Casualty department. This role is based from our Leeds office on a permanent basis.

We are looking for a strong individual who is accustomed to managing teams building relationships on an account manager basis. Your main responsibility will be to profitably grow your financial class of business from brokers allocated to the region. You will manage the performance of Underwriters to improve the trading and underwriting skills of the region and to have a market facing presence within your given region.

Key Accountabilities

  • Have a High profile in your local market by meeting brokers and lead the growth and profitability of your products
  • Be accountable for the top and bottom line performance of your product set and identify trends and opportunities to ensure continued growth and profitability
  • Manage your team of direct reports including performance management, workload management and improving the performance of the staff and rigorously manage underperformance and talent
  • Account Performance:
    • Understand the revenue and profit performance of your accounts
    • Delivery of the GWP and Profit financial plans for your products
    • Effective liaison with colleagues in Trading Region and Underwriting centre to support delivery of plan
    • Promptly identify and manage underperforming areas of the account - including Fix Brokers
  • Identify Technical and Trading Training requirements for the region and address through training and coaching
  • Effective work allocation to ensure service delivery requirements are met
  • Provide case leadership with particular oversight and ownership of large cases
  • Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to my role and in line with the DLG Insurance Risk framework and associated governance frameworks
  • Contribute to wider business activities. Drive and influence the national agenda for your respective class of business with engagement from all key stakeholders
