Rising Star: Ieva Andraityte, Arc Legal Assistance

Ieva Andraityte 625x350

Ieva Andraityte now manages some of the legal expenses of Arc Legal's largest corporate clients, having discovered a passion for statistics and data analysis at university.

How did you get into insurance?

While studying at university I developed a keen interest in the more quantitative side of politics, policy and public opinion and found I really enjoyed statistics, data analysis and providing valuable insight. After I graduated, I pursued a career as a business analyst.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career to date?

One experience I’ll never forget is a very intense client renewal meeting in my first year. I attended the meeting with our two directors who were leading the discussion, but I suddenly found myself on the spot when asked a challenging question about our performance data. I managed to collect my thoughts and provide an answer that satisfied the client.

What would your advice be to other newcomers to the industry?

I didn’t realise just how small and well-connected the industry really is when I came into it. Relationships are key to success: someone you bump into at a social event might very well turn out to be a key decision maker for one of your prospective client firms, so my advice would be to always strive to leave the best impression.

Do you have a mentor and what have they taught you?

I’ve been lucky to have had a lot of support since I started my career, but my manager Ed stands out in particular. I’ve not met a more knowledgeable person and cannot remember an occasion where I had a query he could not answer, or a problem he could not help me with.

He’s been an incredible mentor who has always had that little bit more faith in me than I had in myself and who actually put me forward for my current role.

Where do you hope to be in 10 years?

I see myself working in insurance for the foreseeable future. In 10 years’ time I would like to have developed my experience and industry knowledge even further and to have progressed into a more strategic role.

What achievements are you most proud of?

I’ve grown in my role as I started out as a junior team member managing some of our established accounts. I’m currently working towards achieving my Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute qualification, which has taken a great deal of time and dedication alongside a demanding work schedule and other personal commitments.

“Ieva joined us as a trainee with no previous insurance experience and is now a key member of the corporate relations team.”
