Who are we and what do we do?
We are Unum (pronounced you-num) and we’re one of the UK’s leading financial protection insurers; that means we sell Income Protection, Critical Illness cover and Life Insurance.
You may not have heard of us before, so you probably don’t know that we’ve been around for over forty years and insure more people under our Income Protection products than Aviva, Legal and General, or Canada Life.
We specialise in providing Income Protection through the workplace, and are committed to helping the UK’s workforce get a back-up plan. In June 2011, we launched an Income Protection awareness campaign to highlight the key role it can play in helping to protect people’s lifestyle.
At the end of 2014, Unum protected almost 1.4 million people in the UK and paid claims of £313 million - representing in excess of £6 million a week in benefits to our customers - providing security and peace of mind to individuals and their families.
We have offices throughout the UK. Our Head Office is based in Dorking, Surrey. Our other main office is situated in Basingstoke and we have regional sales offices throughout the UK, including Birmingham, Glasgow and London.
