Senior Trading Underwriter

Location: Reading or West Malling

Flexible working options for this role: 36.25 hours per week + flexitime

From day 1, you’ll be able to contribute to the Covéa Insurance purpose which is ‘To help people protect against the worst happening and put it right if it does’.

What would you be responsible for in this role?

  • To be part of an exciting team, in a key role which will be helping to develop, test and launch a new flagship product which will be pivotal to Covea’s Small Business proposition
  • To help refine and develop our existing E-Trade products
  • To be the key referral point for technical queries within the team and for external customers
  • To be an advocate of effective trading, developing and overseeing initiatives within the team and providing support to colleagues
  • To provide training and coaching to team members on technical underwriting, effective training and soft skills
  • To work with the Team Manager to continually develop ideas which improve efficiencies, profitability whilst delivering great service
  • To achieve and exceed agreed service levels to both external and internal customers
  • To maintain an up to date knowledge of the Insurance Market, with focus on Small Business and E-Traded market. To share knowledge with the colleagues
  • Complete any other activity over and above those listed in the role profile, appropriate to your skills and experience

  • Minimum cert CII, ideally DIP CII or progress towards

Experience and knowledge

  • Experience in underwriting and trading commercial products
  • Proven experience in underwriting Commercial Combined Insurance is essential
  • Experience of working within an e-traded environment, with a working knowledge of Acturis preferred
  • Proven relationship management
  • The ability to demonstrate meeting & exceeding personal and team objectives
  • Experience in delivering training and/or coaching
  • An awareness of the market and legal/industry developments
