Motor & Personal Underwriter
For over 100 years, we've insured Britain's farming communities. Now, our customers come from all walks of life, but our ethos is the same – honesty, fairness and trust.
Today, our customers are as diverse as our products. But each and every one of them appreciates – and deserves – our personal service and honest advice. We offer insurance, pensions, investments and protection. Whether our customers are insuring their home or their business, organising a pension or investing their money, our experts are available. We believe in taking the time to find products to meet their needs, inspiring trust and building relations by exceeding expectations.
Could you make insurance risk decisions on behalf of one of the UK’s leading general insurers? We are looking for individuals to join our Underwriting team in the York Regional Service Centre to review and evaluate insurance risks for our Motor and Personal lines.
If you are customer orientated and detail focussed, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
Our members are at the heart of everything we do and so you will be responsible for ensuring a fair outcome for our customers when analysing risk and negotiating policy terms, whilst ensuring outcomes are aligned with our risk appetite.
Whether it is checking new quotes, policy amendments or processing policy cancellations, you will work closely with our network of branches and Claims teams to establish material facts and ensure that all new business and policy changes meet our Underwriting criteria.
With your strong attention to detail you will also highlight any potential policy fraud, such as non-disclosures, and work closely with our Fraud teams to investigate further where appropriate.
Like us, your first instinct is how to make something happen. You’re the sort of person who’ll look and think beyond the obvious to find a solution that will work for the customer and for our business. You’ve plenty of common sense and you’re thorough too; eagled-eye, never-miss-a-detail thorough. You’re also great at building strong working relationships.
Of course, underwriting experience would be great. But more than anything, its outlook and personality that matter. Like everyone here at NFU Mutual, you take the time to do things properly, to put the customer first to help them achieve what they want to achieve.
Rewards and Benefits
You get more from work with NFU Mutual. More support, more career development, more rewards, more job satisfaction. More of the little things that add up too, like a wellbeing package and even somewhere safe to leave your bike. Our generous benefits package includes a contributory pension scheme, annual company performance-related bonus, 25 day’s holiday, and discounts on our insurance products. We’ve a wealth of training programmes open to you and we’ll help you develop your career in the direction that you want it to go. We’ll also help you to gain recognised insurance qualifications (and we’ll even give you a bonus when you pass them).
