What is the purpose of this role?

We are currently seeking an assistant insurance manager to work in our in house insurance team. The insurance team is responsible for the group wide insurance programme for Thames. The assistant manager will be part of and provide support to the insurance management team.

The successful candidate will be involved in broking the insurance programme, the day to day management of the programme and claims handling.

This team arranges the largest insurance programme in the water sector and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on all parts of the programme from broking the risk right through to managing the claims process. What will this role involve?

To take part in the placement of the annual insurance programme including the tender processes for new brokers or insurers.

To ensure that all contracts entered into by Thames where the insurance responsibilities rest with the supplier have appropriate insurance and liability clauses to provide appropriate protection to Thames.

To ensure effective day to day working relationships are maintained with all external suppliers including but not limited to insurers, brokers, claims handlers loss adjusters and solicitors ensuring all SLA’s are met and appropriate audits undertaken.

To ensure all necessary processes are completed to ensure no breaches of our insurance policies. In particular, ensure the survey programme is completed and claims reporting is correctly addressed.

To be responsible for ensuring the provision of regular, accurate and insightful loss information to the businesses in order that they can understand the profile of their losses and can take action to try and prevent any increases in future insurance premiums.

To assist in the management of the claims process to ensure all claims are managed in such a way as to protect the financial position of the company and to ensure the reputation of the company is protected and customer satisfaction is maximised. In particular, to be responsible for the management of information required when large losses occur.

To be responsible for the cleansing of the claims data as required to ensure maximum accuracy of management information.

To participate in special projects and deputise for the insurance manager as required.
