Key Duties:

  • Undertake detailed credit analysis of a range of counterparties (including derivative, reinsurance and internally sourced investments) establishing a robust view of the credit worthiness and associated credit rating
  • Provide an independent review and challenge of initial and ongoing ratings generated by first line credit teams
  • Undertake detailed periodic reviews and validations of the assigned internal rating methodologies used by the first line credit team
  • Daily counterparty monitoring of share price, CDS spreads, ratings and identification of emerging credit risks and mitigating actions
  • Monitor compliance with counterparty limits and ensure exceptions are appropriately understood, resolved and documented
  • Produce, validate and report counterparty risk management MI for the Risk Function
  • Conduct second line validation in the investment risk space
  • Review and validate analysis of actual counterparty related risk and report to the Risk Function on any implications
  • Undertake sectoral analysis and/ or provide guidance and challenge as to the individual and collective factors influencing current and future ratings
  • Provide input to scenarios for stress and sensitivity testing
  • Provide assurance to the Risk Function on the adequacy of methodologies, their application and the resulting outputs of the internal rating scorecard as part of periodic deep dive reviews, investigations and general oversight work
  • Engaged in any decision, activity, initiative, project or process to the level the Risk Function believes appropriate and necessary, irrespective of size and features

Experience required:

  • Track record in undertaking detailed counterparty credit analysis including establishing internal views of ratings to be assigned to counterparties
  • Knowledge of counterparty credit risk for traded products (i.e. Rates, SFTs, FX, Credit, Equity, and Structured Products)
  • Ability to present and respond to challenge with regard to the assessment of counterparties and their credit standing
  • Understanding of rating methodologies and their application across a variety of sectors
  • Knowledge of business processes, standards, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of legal regulatory and industry requirements
  • Ability to construct relevant MI and to interpret its relevance on an individual and portfolio basis

  • Ability to distil information and apply judgement
  • Ability to write effective reports setting out opinions and the rationale for these
