Client:
Our client is a market leading specialty insurance group. The Professional Indemnity department offers worldwide coverage to clients domiciled anywhere in the world outside of the United States subject to any applicable sanctions or restrictions. Target risks include: traditional professions such as accountants, solicitors/lawyers and surveyors; construction professions and miscellaneous professions such as loss adjusters, insurance brokers, patent agents and recruitment consultants.

Purpose of Role:
To support the management of the PI portfolio. Understand the nature and content of the Business Plan, building knowledge of the account and its risks exposures within the guidance of the Head of Department and adhering to underwriting authorities. To profitably underwrite Professional Indemnity risks within the parameters of her underwriting authority.

Principal Duties / Responsibilities:
To be responsible for underwriting new and renewal PI business within a given underwriting authority, specifically:
·The consideration and pricing of cases based on subjective analysis of risk characteristics
·Provide effective underwriting support where applicable by processing allocated tasks including data entry, quote preparation and policy issuance onto the computer system
·Responsible for efficient and up to date record keeping (e.g. slips/underwriting evaluation sheets, quotes, files etc)
·The review and preparation of renewal information for risks based on presentation and claims statistics
·Input and update of financial and risk information into the Syndicate underwriting system (Synergy)
·Online research/analysis of underwriting data on risks.
·PBQ slip review analysis, broker liaison and rectification of issues raised following receipt from Compliance.
·Comply with internal standards/procedures and reporting in support of the day to day operation of the account
·Maintaining and develop broker relations; broker liaison with both London and non-London markets to include (but not limited to) Canada, Asia, Singapore and Australia

Attributes / Expertise / Experience:
·Demonstrates effective time management, adept at juggling priorities
·Confidence in presenting to others and representing the company
·Willing to travel overseas for up to two weeks any one trip on corporate business
·Ability to implement underwriting plan
·Has an understanding of financial issues and the key performance indicators that drive the business plan and determine the organisation's success.
·Has an understanding of the dynamics and role of the broker and standards by which relationships are developed between the Broker, underwriter and client
·Quality risk selection and pricing
·Understands the legal, financial and regulatory issues which affect the line of business.
·Has the ability to negotiate to a mutually successful outcome
·Have highly proficient underwriting skills
·Has broad, strong market contacts
·Market and product development experience
·ACII qualified or working towards completion
·Likely to have at least three years' experience in PI
·Basic knowledge of actuarial pricing and being able to liaise with actuaries is preferable
