Acumen are excited to be working with a global business process management company who have partnerships with a large number of global insurers, reinsurers and InsurTech companies and are seeking a Group Reporting Accountant in London to join them to work on a newly formed international specialty insurer (Syndicate and MGA) with global operations. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join a large established global company and work on a start-up insurance operation and take ownership of a range of operational tasks supporting the finance function.

The successful candidate should have broad knowledge on tax accounting, be familiar with Insurance industry tax requirements and confident in interacting with senior stakeholders internally & externally.

Core responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update Insurance specific tax changes and regulations, including new filing practices, timeline changes, and company-specific information
  • Prepare tax accruals for corporate tax, handle year-end tax audit and filings by assisting the client tax consultant
  • Responsible of VAT returns and filing, including but not limited to
    • Reconciliation and review of input/ output VAT against ledger and source documents
    • Calculation of insurance, investment, IC recharges and other sector sales to assess exception methodologies and update workings
    • Assist tax returns review with client Tax accountant
    • Coordinate with client stakeholders to get relevant approvals and file returns
  • Responsible of IPT returns for all regions (28+ countries), including but not limited to
    • Compliance with tax returns across all IPT countries/ regions
    • Gather details relating to various tax returns from systems and teams
    • Reconciliation and review calculations based on IPT requirements
    • Assist review with client Tax accountant for all tax filings
    • Assist and maintain documentation of all procedures and processes
  • Review, interact, train and manage offshore team in India and support to retain and build knowledge within the team
  • Set-up Tax processes from greenfield and assist in creating Tax related nominals for global chart of accounts
  • Provide inputs and drive system implementation as a Tax SME
  • Provide assistance and work with wider Finance department on strategic projects as required

Requirements:

  • An qualified Tax Accountant ( ACA/ ACCA/ ACT) or relevant qualification
  • 5 years' experience in Tax accounting
  • Knowledge in tax requirements in insurance industry and London market (IPT, FET etc)
  • Highly motivated self-start with strong integrity
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate pragmatism and firm judgment
