Midlands and South West

Home Based, reporting into Birmingham

Salary to £67k depending on experience

Reference JO00182

With significant opportunities to grow the book in a market with increasing rates and plenty of new business pipeline, our client is looking for a Trading and Development Underwriter to develop their Financial Lines offering, in the Midlands and South West markets

The Company

  • A truly global underwriting business, with a significant UK presence

The Role

  • A senior Trading and Development underwriter, with a focus on Financial Lines, consistently primarily of PI, but also Cyber and D&O.
  • You will be joining a team with significant Financial Lines experience, but expected to stand on your own two feet with regard to the underwriting of new business opportunities on a stand alone basis, or as part of a package
  • Working with the Branch Manager to develop key broker relationships in order to extract the opportunities
  • You will also take responsibility for the retention strategy of your book
  • Individual Account size will vary from Commercial through to mid-corporate.

  • You will be a Financial Lines Underwriter with a minimum of 3 years underwriting of PI - whether as a standalone product, or part of a package
  • You must have the desire for Professional Indemnity to be your focus of development
  • You must have the desire to develop broker relationships which allow you to win new business, and retain the key accounts
  • Of course, you must have a hunger to work within the Underwriting guidelines to win new business, and not hide behind a system to deny opportunity.
  • Provided you can regularly travel to Birmingham in normal times, this role can be based anywhere between the Midlands and SouthWest
