Motor Engineer - Desk Based - Remote Working - £25,000 - £35,000
A new opportunity has arisen to work for a growing Claims Management organisation as a Desk-Based Motor Engineer.
The Role
You will be required to have extensive knowledge of dealerships' working methodologies, estimate creation and workshop/engineering experience so that input into the validation of estimates can be handled in accordance with laid down processes
- Processing new authorisations within agreed timescales
- Understanding and identifying the correct parts and pricing them appropriately at the time the estimate is being approved
- Understanding different paint preparation and finish times
- Establishing the best repair method for damages in line with manufacturer guidelines with a good understanding of smart repairs and PDR
- Negotiating hours and costs to complete repairs
- Identifying the difference between transit and warranty damage
- Understanding individual client definitions of "not saleable as new" and "beyond repair for write off" when making determinations on vehicles
- Contribute to the management of the process for handling total losses across markets
- Justifying and explaining all estimate/cost reductions clearly with evidence from any necessary systems
- Identifying trends such as consistent production defects or damage at specific points in the transit procedure to allow further investigation.
- Occasional travel to assist contractual obligations to dealers, colleagues or other business divisions if required.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:
- A solid understanding of the motor claims administration processes with experience of estimate creation using industry accepted systems such as Audatex and direct manufacturer systems
- Preferably have a workshop/engineering background
- Be organised and have a proactive approach and be happy to work by yourself
- Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- To develop and maintain excellent working relationships with customers and colleagues across the Company
- Adopt good time management practices with the ability to prioritise work
- Have great problem solving skills with the ability to adopt a logical approach to resolving problems
- A flexible approach and positive attitude
