My Client are seeking a commercial placing insurance broker. The ideal candidate is someone with experience of placing a broad range of commercial SME insurance contracts, both in relation to new and existing business. They would expect the ideal candidate to have active relationships with an array of insurers from a business placement and negotiation perspective, which means they have a good understanding of the insurance carrier's products. In addition, they would require them to have the ability to check policy wordings and schedules, make comparisons between different products and make recommendations to the account executive or to the client directly depending upon the circumstances. Additionally, delegate to junior members of the team and support senior members of the team. It would be a strong 'nice to have' if that person had Acturis user experience and/or some personal lines experience.
This is essentially a desk-based role, which may or may not have oversight of others in the broking team depending upon the candidate's experience and to some extent, their expectations. There is of course, a strong element of customer relationship management with the role as you would expect in a start-up, entrepreneurial broking environment and staff who bring in new business are always appreciated; however, it is not an account executive or sales-led role.
