The role

The Strategy & Development team is a global function that works with the Board and executive management to provide a full research and development function to inform and develop strategic initiatives. For the team's credibility and long term success, it is crucial that it has the ability to manage and implement initiatives and projects. Demand for the department's services has grown and continues to grow.

An opportunity has arisen for a Business Analyst to join the Strategy Delivery team.

Working as part of a small team, the individual will be responsible for business analysis of strategic initiatives and implementation of business solutions within agreed timescales and budget. The portfolio comprises MINT strategic initiatives, ranging from setting up new functions / teams, to acquisitions / due diligence and operational improvement programmes.

Key accountabilities

Accountable for

  • Business analysis of strategic initiatives and guiding business partners towards accepting change
  • Recommending and supporting the delivery of business and technical solutions aligned with the project goals and business outcomes
  • Own professional development in understanding the market within which MINT operates, along with the commercial and competitive pressures, and potential opportunities available

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Investigate, analyse, challenge and define business solutions to support the strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with the business and IT partners to define requirement specifications to support business process, system and report changes (functional and non-functional)
  • Work with the business units to define business cases and requirements for new business and system solutions
  • Support delivery of business and technical solutions by coordinating deliverables and actions
  • Identify project / business risks and issues and propose mitigating actions
  • Provide input to the definition and production of test and training plans
  • Ensure the relevant stakeholders are engaged for sign off at appropriate milestones throughout the project and solution acceptance
  • Ensure MINT / IDF project standards are adhered to

Skills & experience

Technical skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • Commercial experience of utilising a variety of Business Analysis structured methods
  • Proven capability in Lean/six sigma (preferred but not essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills enabling business partnership
  • Strong facilitation skills and running hot houses or similar
  • Strong requirements gathering skills e.g. workshops, interviewing or questionnaire
  • Experience in agile and/or the use of requirement gathering tools and automated testing tools (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience of working in Agile delivery methods (preferred but not essential)
  • Business Analysis experience within the London Market for re/insurance (preferred but not essential)
