Job Title: Schemes Development Manager

Location: Flexible (National role with travel to Gloucester office)

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus a good range of benefits

Duration: Permanent

Hours: 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday

About the role

The role holder will manage targeted Sales activity for Schemes and act as a subject matter expert for the wider GI Business.

Key accountabilities:

  • Own and proactively develop commercially successful and productive relationships with Brokers and, where appropriate, other intermediaries to develop the schemes pipeline
  • Work with the wider business to develop the Schemes pipeline
  • Develop new Schemes business within our existing risk appetite in accordance with the Corporate Business Plan
  • Support development of existing schemes in accordance with the Corporate Business Plan  
  • Promote Ecclesiastical’s brand, values and reputation in its markets and with customers, suppliers and partners by having a visible and credible market presence in order to enhance achievement of the Corporate Business Plan
  • Development and coaching of team members
  • Instilling high performance of team members
  • Timely and appropriate quality control checks
  • Design and delivery of training material
  • Understand and operate within regulatory framework and identify and escalate any risks to the business
  • Resolve complaints and breaches in line with company policy
  • Leverage the value of Risk consulting and Claims in Schemes development and business acquisition and retention
  • Actively expand personal technical and Schemes and niche knowledge both informally (networking internally and externally, internet, industry press) and formally (In-house training, CII, CPD)
  • Must be comfortable with National travel and frequent visits to the schemes team in Gloucester


Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • CII Qualification with a commitment to progress to Chartered Insurer status
  • Proven track record in a Sales and Development role
  • Proven confident and influential communicator at all levels
  • The ability to coach for enhanced performance of others
  • Significant experience of building and maintaining co-operative and productive relationships at all levels
  • Proven ability to win and retain business within the Schemes market
