DevOps Team Leader

Location: Reigate


A leading global advisory, broking and solutions company are looking for a hands-on Dev Ops Team Leader, to lead Dev Ops experts and application support engineers, who are responsible for build, software configuration management and application support.

This role offers challenges across a wide variety of projects and responsibilities, including the opportunity to influence the future direction of the systems development and TAS technology solutions.


Key responsibilities: 
  • Provide technical and management leadership to define enterprise software delivery patterns using build and release tools. 
  • Mentoring of Dev-Ops engineers on new and existing software build and delivery process.
  • Co-ordinate, support the design, development, maintenance and support of high-quality
    in-house software build systems for Enterprise class software.
  • Review of current systems and processes and propose and implement automation solutions for software deployment.
  • Management and creation of configuration for internal customers responsible for scheduling and or deployment to Quality Assurance and development Integration environments
  • Support Software Development Life Cycle for internal customers
  • Designing, training and implementing source code control management best practices
  • Develop and maintain our internal release management process
  • Creation and maintenance of an automated build/release scripts and plans
  • Works independently and within project teams to provide guidance and recommendations to business stakeholders and management for risk remediation
  • Contribute and review ongoing improvements of the implementation of standards for Software Configuration Management
 
The essential skills / experience required:
  • BS or BA Degree, preferably in Computer Science and 5+ year’s related experience or equivalent combination of education and or experience required.
  • Line management and personal development of a team of highly skilled technical
    experts.
  • Working closely with Program Manager, Project Managers and Business Analysts to produce accurate delivery estimates and manage the transition from analysis through to design and delivery.
  • Experience of people management and leadership
  • Relevant experience as a DevOps/SCM engineer, or in a position with similar skill sets and responsibilities. 
  • Strong Unix (Linux/AIX), Oracle experience.
  • Experience building and managing Docker containers.
  • Experience using Jenkins & Git.
  • Relational database experience.  (Preferably Oracle with a working knowledge of PL/SQL).
  • Familiarity with network protocols – TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, etc.
  • Knowledge of Desired State Configuration technologies such Puppet, Chef, Docker Compose
    or Ansible
  • Capability to support a software development teams’ timelines and targets.
  • Familiarity with change management systems and processes
  • Familiarity with principles of continuous integration and SDLC.
  • Oracle development database administration experience (DBA)
  • Web application security
  • Performance tuning
 
The beneficial skills / experience:
  • ITIL certifications preferred
  • Experience using a scripting language such as Python, Shell Script or Perl.
  • Experience in administering application servers and web servers (Nginx, Apache HTTP server, Apache Tomcat)
  • Proficiency with Linux.  Red Hat Enterprise Edition preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of n-tier web applications.
